"Combining innovation and service excellence to deliver true business value"
Anvil was originally founded as a specialist Mobile Virtual Network Operator (MVNO) delivering advanced 3G voice services through a network of channel partners and resellers across the UK. Since then, the portfolio of communications products and services has grown to include a comprehensive range of products and services covering voice, data and security. Anvil is a founder member of the influential Cambridge Wireless Group and has a head office near Stansted Airport. A network of regional managers support our partners across the United Kingdom providing sales, marketing and technical support. The evolution of Anvil has continued as the addition of mobile security solutions and fixed line services have combined to re-defined Anvil as a leading Communications Provider for the 21st century.
Anvil has developed a SIM provisioning system to manage the activation of features and services, tightly integrated into a “state of the art” billing system in order to provide the highest service levels to our partners and their customers. Anvil’s History
2009 – Anvil Mobile launched in October
Anvil Mobile was founded in October 2009 as an MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) specifically to bring a new generation of mobile SIMs and applications to market. The first product launched was a land line number on a mobile SIM and aimed small businesses who understand that a local number gives a more professional image and has more appeal to potential customers. Larger business such as field service, sales and taxi companies also saw the benefit of contacting mobile staff, wherever they are, on a local number which reduces the head office phone bills dramatically by eliminating the high cost of land line to mobile calls.
2010 – Anvil becomes an MSP (Mobile Service Provider)
The next phase in Anvil’s evolution was the introduction of business grade mobile broadband data services. Businesses interested in 3G had previously had access to consumer grade SIMs where their data used the public internet and shared the gateway(APN) between the mobile network and the internet with the general public. This approach has obvious issues regarding reliability, security and consistency of performance. Consumer grade 3G SIMs also have a different IP address assigned by the mobile operator for every internet session making corporate access through firewalls a major challenge. Anvil’s fixed IP address SIMs solved the firewall issues and enabled a whole new range of Machine to Machine (M2M) applications such as the management, monitoring and support of remote devices at mobile broadband speeds. Anvil then addressed the performance, security and reliability issues by introducing a private Layer 2 (L2TP) internet infrastructure accessed through a private APN. This establishes a secure tunnel for the data traffic and avoids using the public internet and therefore delivers a true “business grade” mobile broadband experience.
2011 – Anvil evolves into a provider of a full range of communications services
Anvil customers demand a more comprehensive range of fixed as well as mobile services. Broadband and VoIP services can deliver cost savings to businesses when compared to traditional analogue and ISDN lines. However, broadband (DSL) comes in different flavours, some of which do not have the same reliability as traditional communications technologies. Anvil, as a response, launched a business grade ADSL2+ service with a new generation of router that uses 3G as a back-up service.
Video applications over business grade 3G become a hot topic with markets such as security surveillance, Telecare/Telemedicine and video conferencing all going mobile. Once again security and reliability are paramount and Anvil’s enhanced data services provide a solution. The fixed IP address means that any device can be found and positively identified.
In-bound call management is introduced to provide intelligent call routing with hunt groups, auto attendant/IVR, mid-call hold and transfer, whisper announcements and more. Routing calls to mobile phones has always been an expensive option, however, with Anvil’s land line numbered SIMs, the cost is reduced significantly while retaining the flexibility of using a mobile phone.
2012
The 3G Instant Office is introduced to provide a portable voice and data network that is so simple to install, anyone who can put a power plug into a mains socket and turn it on can have full office communications up and running in minutes. Available to purchase or to rent, the Instant 3G office is ideal for temporary offices, construction sites, mobile applications, holiday lets and anywhere that traditional broadband is no not available.
Anvil launches Bonded 3G solutions for high bandwidth applications such as broadcast video and leased line back-up on multiple operator networks.
Secure handsets with fully encrypted voice calls and text messaging become available to ensure the privacy of sensitive mobile communications.Organisations who need to protect their intellectual property, discuss commercially sensitive information and need to ensure the confidentiality of clients benefit from knowledge that hacking and interception can be eliminated.
Secure private mobile network solutions using low power mobile cell technology are introduced to provide mobile signal coverage for areas with little or no coverage from the main operators. Tried and tested in security, emergency service and military applications, the technology is now available to enterprises and communities solving coverage problems in buildings and rural areas.
The latest product to be launched is a revolutionary new SIM that can use ALL of the GSM networks available in the UK. Instead of being shackled to the coverage provided by a single operator , the Anvil Evo-SIM will find a signal from any operator and allow the user to make and take calls. Business travellers, rural workers and those who enjoy outdoor activities can now be in contact if there is any signal from any operator. |
with additional functionality for larger companies and Enterprise organisations
